The plan is to trim only one main branch, and to reduce the height of the other main branches over the next few years by cutting bud scars on the lower part of the branches. The ground will be lightened just by cutting down one of the main branches, and many buds will sprout from the base of the branch left behind”.
What is important in tree shape modification is to clarify the skeletal branches by trimming and pruning them to maintain the ideal tree shape.
For the stable production of delicious citrus fruits, it is also important for growers to show their skills in producing fruit for consecutive years by pruning and trimming branches.

2－3月は整枝、剪定、施肥、苗木の定植（改植・新植）を行う時期です。
その宇和島の様子をお届けします。
「樹形改造、主枝1本だけを引く切り下げ、他の主枝は下部に芽傷を入れて数年かけて樹高を下げる計画。
主枝を一方伐るだけで地面が明るくなり、残した枝元からたくさんの芽が出てくれる予定」とのことでした。
樹形改造で大事なのは、 整枝により骨格となる枝を明確にし、剪定して理想の樹形を維持することなんでしょうね。
美味しいかんきつの連年安定生産のため、整枝、剪定で連年結実させることも生産者の腕の見せ所ですね。
